From Pantry to Farm

Frostin Farms was born from a place of hardship, hope, and the healing power of food.

The Hard Part

A few years ago, I found myself in one of the most difficult chapters of my life. Our family had fallen on hard times, and we didn’t know how we were going to put food on the table. I turned to our town’s local food pantry for help. I still remember my first visit—sitting there with my face in my hands, sobbing uncontrollably. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced.

The Pantry

The pantry shelves were lined with canned goods and boxed meals—food we were incredibly grateful for—but there were very few fresh options. Hardly any produce. No fruit. No vegetables. I wanted more for my family, and I knew we needed something nourishing, something alive.

The Garden

So I decided to plant a garden in our backyard. It wasn’t fancy, just some simple vegetables to start. But when I served the harvest, none of my kids would eat it.

I was discouraged … until I planted berries.

The Fruit

Something shifted. My kids started eating fresh fruit like it was frostin—blueberries, strawberries, raspberries—whatever I could grow, they devoured. That small change sparked something big. I began to learn more about how fruit could support our health, brighten our days, and keep us at the table longer. Even after we no longer needed the food pantry, the habit of eating fresh fruit stayed with us. It became part of our healing, and part of our joy.

The Farm

That journey led to Frostin Farms. Today, our mission is to teach others how to grow their own food—especially fruit—as good as Frostin and to provide access to fresh, locally grown produce for those who need it most.

We’re working to expand our farm so we can donate more fruits and plants to food pantries in our community, giving others what we once longed for: not just food, but nourishment, dignity, and a fresh start.
